Ratings information

Excellent news about the overnight ratings for Jericho's premiere! Zap2It and The Futon Critic, which both use Fast Nationals, say the premiere scored a 7.5/12 in the overnights. This was good enough to put it in second place in the 8:00 pm timeslot, only after Dancing With The Stars. It was also #4 in all of the night's shows and #7 in the 18-49 demographic. And the best news of all? It was up 53% in overall viewers and up 39% in the 18-49 demographic from CBS' shows last year.

Media Week's Programming Insider, which uses the Metered Markets numbers, also had good news. They list the show as one of the night's winners, with a 7.7/12 in total viewers and a 3.2/10 in the 18-49 demographic.

I know next week will be more important, as a lot of people may tune in for a premiere but not return for a second episode. However, these are still very promising numbers and I'm cautiously optimistic about the show's future.

New here

Like most of you all, I watched the first episode of Jericho the other night on CBS. I was impressed - the characters seemed well formed, and I think they made it clear without beating you over the head with it who the main players would be. Yes, we have the sexy IRS woman from out of town. Yes, we have the prodigal son. Yes, we have the busload of pathos - I mean, children - to worry about, but still, I feel it was all done in an original way.

Now that I think about it, Jericho reminds me of Twin Peaks a little bit.

Anyway, I'm excited to see how it pans out. I moved to the US a year ago and have yet to 'adopt' a TV show, mainly because I have little time to watch TV. But I'll keep track of Jericho for a while.
