LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - CBS has ordered a full season of its rookie drama "Jericho," which has fit nicely into its Wednesday lineup.

While not a breakout hit of the size of NBC's "Heroes," the apocalyptic drama starring Skeet Ulrich has averaged 11.3 million viewers during its four airings to date, and has helped "Criminal Minds" and "CSI: NY" surge in the ratings.

The CBS order was for nine episodes, bringing its total order for the show to 22 episodes. "Heroes" is the only other newcomer to get a full-season pickup so far.

Double Take

I generally don't pay much attention to the opening credits, but last night while watching Jericho (I'm a day behind...love the DVR) I happened to catch "Executive Producer Steve Chbosky" flash on the screen. The significance of this is I went to high school with him. I knew he'd been in Hollywood and had some success (he wrote the screenplay for "Rent" a few years ago) but was still shocked to see the name of someone I know on a show I watch. I've now discovered he's also the author of a very popular/controversial book published a few years ago called "Perks of Being a Wallflower." Who knew?

That freshman year English class where a third of what we read had something to do with nuclear holocaust may have served him well :) (The other two thirds primarily dealt with mental retardation/illness and necrophilia [I kid you not]).
