something to whet your appetite

One more day, folks!

Before we get too excited, I just wanted to make a few modly reminders. As the reruns start airing, I'll be making 'episode discussion' posts again. PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE POSTS ARE MEANT TO BE SPOILER-FREE. We want to lure new viewers in, not send them scampering away.

As a trial run, I'll be making a separate discussion post where you can discuss spoilers if you'd like. I realize that I'm practically the only one who posts here anymore :D so I'm only trying to gauge how involved people want to be in discussing the reruns. If it doesn't work out this week, it won't show up again.

That said, I wanted to point out a couple of interesting things.
  1. The Philadelphia Inquirer has a great article that sums up the Nuts Campaign nicely. It even spills a shocker - turns out that Nina Tassler's cardiologist was also rooting for the show's return back in May!
"He [CBS chief executive officer Leslie Moonves] very systematically walked through department to department and said, 'Let's take a look at this decision. Is there an opportunity to reevaluate it? Let's make a strategic plan,' " recalls Tassler, who says even her cardiologist was lobbying her to bring back Jericho.

  2. The Quiet Earth Forum, dedicated to the post-apocalyptic genre, has decided to take Jericho under its wing! They have a forum available and even a blogtalkradio show. Go ahead and spread the love.

  3. Has anyone noticed that the community member list has jumped from about 257 (when the community was reopened) to 283? Welcome to all our new members! If you're looking for anything, check out the tags or just comment somewhere :D

"Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures." – John F. Kennedy
In just over 24 hours, we will see the fruits of our many labors – Jericho will hit the airwaves once more. While we will all be enjoying it again, Jericho itself will get a big do-over with millions of fans who missed it the first time. Just like Jake got a do over when the appearance of a mushroom cloud on the horizon changed the course of his life and that of Jericho forever.

In many ways, we ALL need a do-over ourselves.

I came to Jericho because it looked like an intriguing concept for a show (ok – being honest – it also had Skeet in it).

I fell in love with Jericho because it sucked me in, kept me glued to the screen and thinking about it all week in between episodes.

I fought for Jericho because I believe that quality programming has a place on network TV and that Jericho should be given a second chance (besides – that was one hell of a cliffhanger).

But I also realized that through Jericho – I've made some fantastic friends, had some stimulating conversations with interesting people, and become a part of a world that I didn't want to see end. One that I don't want to see ripped apart at the seams anymore. None of that would have happened if I hadn't been willing to speak my mind and equally willing to listen to others speak theirs.

We have Saved Jericho. We have Promoted Jericho. Now we need to get back to talking about Jericho. We need to connect once again, not as soldiers in a fight to save the show, but as human beings touched by it.

I can't reset the clock to September 20th, 2006, but maybe we all can give each other a fresh start.

I am very please to have the privilege to announce the first joint effort by the 3 major Jericho fan forums and JerichoLives.com.

Beginning tonight, Jericho Rally Point, Radio Free Jericho and Nuts for Jericho along with Jericho Lives will share a single chat room application with the Jericho fans on the CBS message board and with fans around the internet.

Building on JerichoBagniz Round Table idea – all 4 of those entities will share moderation duties for the new chat room. It will be linked as a feature of those sites so that users can seamlessly move between the chat room and the various forums. While everyone still needs to participate on the CBS board and is encouraged to participate on the other boards – the chat room can be accessed equally from any of the forums (link should be available on the forums tomorrow). The chat room is neutral territory if you will – set up in its own domain, on its own server.

The admins of each of the forums is working to address various issues that have persisted so that the entire online community is welcoming and inviting to all. EVERYONE GETS A FRESH START. That includes the environment on the CBS board as well.

While the unique outlook and character of each forum will persist, we all need to remember that debate of ideas is a good thing and should be embraced. Attacking and berating people – is not. During the campaign to save the show the mantra was: Be polite, be professional, but be persistent. We'd like the new one to be: Be respectful and be reasonable.

In the immoral words of Lennon and McCartney, all we are asking is…

"Give peace a chance."
